It is fairly easy and even free for a webmaster to use tools to analyse their website traffic, monitor the number of visitors, report of the web pages that have been accessed and the length of time each visitor spends accessing the website.

However, despite the vast amount of detailed information that can be collected what will always be missing is information that will tell the webmaster what the visitor was thinking. Did they like the site? Was the layout easy to understand or confusing? Did they find it easy to navigate and maybe the most important thing, did they find the information they wanted?

A website may be generating sales but why are some people that visit the website not buying anything? Was it because they didn’t like what the product or service were or was it that they couldn’t find what it was that they wanted?

Website surveys provide webmasters with an excellent and accurate method of answering these types of questions. Direct feedback from the website visitors means that there is no longer the need to guess, just ask the visitors how they found the site and if they found what they were looking for.

With an online survey webmasters can find out:-

• How often do people visit the website?
• How did they discover the website?
• Are they interested in the website for business or pleasure?
• Did they find the information they were looking for?
• How easy did they find navigating the website?
• Would they recommend the website to others?

A good website survey will be short and to the point and gather good intelligence that once analysed will help improve the website.

Another alternative to a traditional survey is to embed one or two survey questions within the website after specific procedures. For example, ask visitors at the end of the registration process if they found the procedure quick and easy; or after ordering an item ask if they found the ordering procedure and payment methods straightforward. To ensure that the questions don’t become repetitive to regular visitors the website can be programmed so that the questions are only asked once per registered user.

Rintu Basu’s Persuasion Skills Black Book aims to give you simple, easy to use hypnotic language patterns for you to use in every situation. In any situation where persuasion is important, whether management, parenting, dating, sales or leadership The Persuasion Skills Black Book has techniques for you to practice.

This book is not a comprehensive treatment of hypnotic language patterns. There are many more patterns and structures used in conversational hypnosis than are covered in this book. But as Rintu states early on the main emphasis is to give you quick usable tools that you can fit to any situation or context.

Rintu has been training NLP specifically for nine years although he has been a trainer for over twelve. He is used to training both professional and personal uses of NLP Persuasion skills.

In The Persuasion Skills Black Book I found the most value was the fact that Rintu very early on gives you patterns that you can use within minutes of seeing them. He then builds these into more complex patterns that have more scope and power. What this meant for me was I could take what I had learned and apply it within minutes and then build on this.

The Language Patterns are clearly laid out with lots of applications, illustrations and examples. The Persuasion Skills Black Book is takes a practical and pragmatic view of the subject guiding you from simple to complex and powerful patterns.

I quickly started using patterns although I had some hesitation at the start. I had the thought that these patterns would sound strange. But I took the advice from the book and practice saying these patterns out loud on my own first for a few minutes before trying them on other people. When I did I was really surprised at the results. Since then I have noticed I am using patterns without thinking about it and am easily integrating the more powerful ideas in the book.

Having read a few books and looked through a number of websites there seems to be a wealth of confusing and complex information on the subject. Rintu states in his book that there is an upsurge of interest in the subject and my own experience makes me tend to agree with him.

Whilst Rintu mentions many places you can see written patterns he only gives one example in the book. Whilst the example is very comprehensive a few more would have made the book even better.

You won’t get and complex theories or analysis on hypnotic patterns from his book. What you will get are specific patterns and phrases that you can use straight away. If you are after a practical book on hypnotic language patterns then this is a great book to start with.

If you have any situations in your life where persuasion skills are important then this book is an absolute must read. This would include sales people looking to increase their conversions, singles looking for more dates, parents looking to manage their children, managers motivating staff, trainers and teachers wanting to develop their students.

A companion book filled with even more examples, applications and illustrations of these patterns would be a great addition. Hopefully Rintu has seen the opportunity and will be releasing this book soon.
